About the trip
A full-day private Advent trip from Prague to two Christmas markets in Saxony, Germany: Pirna, a small old town at the gateway to Saxon Switzerland, and Dresden, whose Striezelmarkt on the Altmarkt is one of Germany’s oldest Christmas markets (first mentioned in 1434). You travel in a private car with an English-speaking driver, for one price for the whole car (up to 8 people). For expert commentary, a licensed guide can be added on request – they meet you on site where available, or ride with you in the car all day (then up to 7 guests). In Pirna you have about an hour in the old town and at the Canaletto market; in Dresden about three hours to walk the old town — the Frauenkirche, the Royal Palace and the Zwinger are close together — and to enjoy the Striezelmarkt.
Season: Advent 2026. Both markets are open during the day from 26 November to 23 December 2026. The Canaletto market in Pirna runs 24 November–23 December and 27–30 December (closed 24–26 December) and opens at 11:00. The Dresden Striezelmarkt runs 25 November–24 December (it opens on the evening of 25 November; on 24 December until 14:00).
Timing: to arrive in Pirna as the market opens, choose a pickup time around 9:30 — or swap the order in the trip planner and visit Pirna in the afternoon on the way back.
Price: one fixed price for the whole car, up to 8 people. Included: private car, English-speaking driver, fuel, tolls, parking and pickup anywhere in Prague. Not included: food, drinks, market purchases and entrance fees. We do not book tickets or restaurants.
Your route: you can change the order of stops or the time at each place in the trip planner, and during the day with your driver; a longer route may cost extra.
Notes: Christmas markets can be busy, especially at weekends. Warm clothes and comfortable winter shoes help. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before pick-up.

Pirna’s old town at the gateway to Saxon Switzerland: a medieval market square with pastel burgher houses and narrow lanes. In Advent, the Canaletto Christmas market fills the square with craft stalls, mulled wine and Saxon specialities.
